What kind of cable system do Wakeupdocklands use?

Wakeupdocklands uses two twin tower cables which are controlled by the instructor/operator.

How long do I get and how does it work?

Each cable accommodates up to 4 riders per hour (15min sets). If less people are booked on each rider receives more riding time. The amount of people on each hour can be viewed on the booking page. Sessions start on the hour each hour and we ask that you arrive 20 minutes before your session starts in order to get ready to ride.

Do you do group/corporate bookings?

Yes we do. The best way for us to discuss your requirements is to contact the management team at wakeup docklands. Via phone or email (Jon@wakeupdocklands.com or Jason@wakeupdocklands.com) - We often host both large and small groups of corporate bookings and are happy to create something bespoke if required.

I have never done wakeboarding before..... is it suitable for beginners?

Very much so. Our system 2.0 cables offer beginners the easiest and quickest way to learn how to wakeboard. Our coaching staff are on hand to provide 1-2-1 guidance to get you up and riding quickly.

If I have my own equipment is it cheaper?

Yes. We charge £5.00 for wetsuit hire and £5.00 for a beginner board and £10.00 for an obstacle board (advanced riders) so bringing your own will allow you to save this money.

Do you offer club membership? (include what you get and the cost)

We have two types of memberships – off peak and peak. Once you are a member you are able to book up to two session per day during any of our opening times and also benefit from secure equipment storage (meaning riders don’t have to carry their boards and wetsuits to and from the club every time the want to ride). We also throw in 1x 2 hour paddleboard lesson, discounts on our retail products, discounted entry into our competition events and pro rider clinics and also free use our onsite BBQ facilities.

Yes we have warm showers and indoor changing facilities on The Oiler Bar – our very own ex-Navy refuelling vessel which also acts as a fantastic viewing platform.

Do you have showers?

The Royal Victoria Dock is an inlet of the Thames River which has been specifically filtered by a sand bar at London City Airport. The water is some of the cleanest around and the entire Dock is dedicated to leisure, sport and recreation activities with regular safety tests being carried out by the regulatory bodies in the area. We have a thriving community of wildlife that has gradually been reintroduced to the docklands area and are proud to maintain the area in order for people to enjoy the docks and the watersports we provide.

How clean is the water?

Yes. The Shack at WakeupDocklands is a fully licensed premises with a variety of cold soft drinks, beers and snacks. We also offer a variety of special ‘guilt free’ pizzas which are cooked in one of our purpose built pizza ovens as well as other lighter bites for a quick energy burst before you ride!

Are there refreshments on site?

Yes. There are a number of areas around the docks, to view the wakeboarding and paddleboarding activities here at WakeUpDocklands. During the peak summer months we have a large sandy beach that can be used to view action from.

For insurance purposes our minimum age for both wakeboarding and paddleboarding is 10 years old.

What is your minimum age for participation?

Yes. Although you will be provided with safety equipment including a buoyancy/impact vest and helmet you must at least be water confident and able to swim at least 25 meters. We don’t want anyone to get into a panicked state on the water.

Do I have to be able to swim?

The easiest way to book an activity is by using our industry leading, online booking system. Once you have registered and accepted our term

How do I book?

You must book onto the BLUE cable which is the one without obstables.

Which cable should I book onto as a beginner.
